ABOUT US

Welcome to The Oliver Cromwell – a much-loved St Ives institution with a story as rich as the ales we serve. Originally founded in the early 1800s as “Feathers” brewery, the pub was rebranded in 1876 by the original landlord’s republican son, paying homage to St Ives’ most famous figure, Oliver Cromwell himself.

Today, we’re proud to be a contemporary traditional pub: honouring our history while offering a refreshed, welcoming atmosphere where locals, visitors, and even a few four-legged friends feel right at home. You’ll find a cracking selection of real ales, draught favourites, a thoughtfully curated wine list, and a fine range of spirits behind the bar.

We’re all about community here. Whether you’re joining us for live music every Thursday, testing your brain at our monthly quiz night (first Tuesday of the month), or simply tucking into one of our homemade pub classics — including what we humbly reckon is the best Sunday roast for miles — you’re part of the family. (P.S. — Our kitchen officially opens on 15th May — bring your appetite!)

Proud to support local suppliers and events, we’re excited to play our part in this year’s Jazz & Blues Festival and the town’s 600th Anniversary Celebrations.

With a history built on brewing and a future focused on good times, The Oliver Cromwell is open seven days a week from 11:30am — board games ready, drinks flowing, and friendly faces waiting. Keep an eye out for our new function room, coming late 2025!

Come raise a glass with us — history never tasted so good.
